Update on CodeRED Alert Outage

The CodeRED system continues to be down for Biltmore Forest residents. This outage was due to a targeted cyberattack on our third-party vendor's system approximately two weeks ago. The Town is unable to send emergency alerts (phone calls, texts, and emails) or our regular community announcements. OnSolve CodeRED (the third party vendor) alerted the Town and its other clients that the impacted dataset may contain contact information of OnSolve CodeRED users, including: name, address, email address, phone numbers, and/or associated passwords used to create user profiles for alerts. OnSolve CodeRED recommends that residents changes their passwords on other online accounts if the same password is used by individuals for any other personal or business accounts.

The cyberattack does not impact any other Town systems or users. Buncombe County is among users of the CodeRED system and has distributed similar information to those who use the BCAlerts system.

The Town is continuing to work with the vendor to gather more information, review their cybersecurity policies, and investigating other solutions with other companies that provide similar notification services. If you have specific questions or concerns regarding the data breach, please reach out to CodeRED directly at crsupport@crisis24.com.

Please continue to monitor the Town's website and BFPD police app for important updates and information until this situation is resolved. Thank you.
