Regular Brush Pickup Resumes - Wednesday, July 16

We are pleased to report that effective today, July 16, the Town has resumed regular, residential brush pick-up. After Hurricane Helene, the Town’s brush truck ran each workday through June 15. Prior to resuming a regular schedule, the Town took the truck out of service for maintenance and repairs due to this extensive use. These repairs were completed yesterday. Brush pick-up started today for the north side of Town and will move to the south side of Town per our regular schedule on Wednesday, July 30.

Also, please remember all Town brush ordinances are in effect. Brush materials left at the roadside that do not meet these regulations will not be picked up and are the responsibility of the property owner. For instance, the Town will not pick up stumps, grass clippings, or trees/tree material removed by a contractor. These and other non-allowed items are the responsibility of the property owner and should be disposed of immediately.

A copy all brush regulations are available on the front page of the Town’s website at biltmoreforest.org. Please review these regulations to ensure your brush complies with the Town’s ordinances prior to placing it at the roadside. Thank you.As a reminder, regulations are as follows, and can also be found at biltmoreforest.org:

  1. Brush gathered by anyone other than the resident must be removed by that same company (i.e. if a landscape company is gathering your brush, it must be removed by the landscape company).
  2. Only 15 cubic yards of brush (one-half truck load) should be placed curbside per lot per month. Please do not place more brush out immediately after brush is removed from your lot.
  3. Stack piles neatly and parallel to the roadway. Trim limbs to a maximum 6-foot length. Please stack in one pile and do not place multiple piles along the road.
  4. Be aware of where you place your brush - do not place in the public roadway, in blind spots, under shrubs, trees, or power lines, on top of storm inlets, meter boxes, or in front of fire hydrants.
  5. All brush must be placed on the lot from which it is collected. Do not place brush on town property and under no circumstances should brush or leaves be placed inside a park, on public property, or on a neighbor’s property. This is considered littering.
  6. Most importantly: The following debris is not allowed in a brush pile and will not be removed by the Town: grass clippings, dirt, mulch, bamboo, lumber, pallets, pumpkins, wreaths, dog waste, construction or demolition debris, paper or anything other than brush collected from your lot. If this material is in your brush pile, it will not be picked up.
