Planning Commission Public Meeting
The Biltmore Forest Planning Commission will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, March 22nd at 5:30 p.m at the Town Hall. The purpose of this meeting is to gather additional feedback on the Town's Comprehensive Planning Process. The development of a Comprehensive Plan for the Town began last year, when the Planning Commission first adopted new statutory guidelines regarding land use. This was Phase 1 of compliance with new state law regarding local government land use regulations.
Phase 2 of this process is the development of a Comprehensive Plan for the Town. Previously, the Town has utilized "General Plans" or Zoning Ordinance changes when considering new land use ordinances . This new Comprehensive Plan requirement dictates that ALL local governments must have a reasonably recent Comprehensive Plan in order to continue enforcing zoning ordinances within their jurisdiction. Throughout this process, the Board of Commissioners and Planning Commission have wanted to gather public input. This has been done through surveys and the next phase is a Public Meeting on March 22, 2022.
Public Meeting
The public meeting will focus on the Planning Commission's work to date in crafting a Comprehensive Plan to submit to the Board of Commissioners. Feedback provided at this meeting will be utilized in the final comprehensive plan. All are encouraged to attend, and we are hopeful the above information provides some context to previous work that has occurred. The Planning Commission members have developed a draft Goals and Strategies document that will form the backbone of the final Comprehensive Plan. In November 2021, a planning survey was produced and residents' asked to contribute their responses to assist with the development of this Plan. A copy of the Planning Commission survey and the questions may be found below.

In addition to the Comprehensive Plan survey, the Town also conducted a Transportation Study beginning in October 2022. This transportation survey included a transportation focused survey that ran through late November 2021. The Transportation Plan was formally submitted to the Board of Commissioners at the March 2022 meeting. Resident input and development, compiled via the survey, were incorporated into the recommendations presented in the Transportation Study.
