Happenings in the Forest - 7/14/23

Happy Friday everyone! 

The Town will begin updating weekly events and happenings on Fridays. This way everyone can know what's happening here in the Forest!

Town Hall Updates:

  • Town issued an RFQ for facility master planning 
  • Angela Newnam appointed to the Planning Commission 
  • Friends of Biltmore Forest met to review the Independence Day event and finalize plans for Movie in the Park 
    • Movie in the Park will be Friday, July 21st at 9pm in Rosebank Park
  • Upcoming club events 
    • Biltmore Forest Running Club - Meeting at 9am, Saturday, July 15th at Town Hall
    • Biltmore Forest Board Game Club - Meeting at 4pm, Tuesday, July 25th at Town Hall

Police Department Updates:

  • Working on the street camera project and are in the early stages of setting install dates.
  • We have been doing extra patrols and speed enforcement on Browntown Rd as a response to resident’s request.
  • Planning is underway for this year’s National Night Out Event.

Public Works Updates:

  • String trimmed the stream bank at Greenwood Park
  • Mulched all playgrounds in Rosebank and Greenwood Parks - 3+ truckloads! 
    • For those interested, the parks were mulched with PlaySafe mulch. This is a specific type of mulch meant for playgrounds. 
  • Removed weeds and mulched around plant material in Greenwood Park
  • Removed tree in Lower Vanderbilt Park that fell on Friday, July 7th
  • Repaired the ditch line line along Stuyvesant Road – removed material, regraded, added topsoil, seed, and straw matting
  • Trimmed overgrown brush and cleared the row for pedestrians along Vanderbilt road shoulder at 413 and 417
  • Collected weekly trash & recycling
  • Mowed and string-trimmed all town owned spaces
  • Responded to a downed tree across Eastwood Road and re-opened all lanes Saturday night, removed the tree on Monday. 
  • Cedar Hill restoration project continues
