Great American Eclipse Information

The Town will conduct routine operations Monday, but please note solid waste and recycling pickup may be delayed during the height of the eclipse due to the darkened conditions. If you have questions about this, please contact the Town Public Works Department at (828) 274-3919. Please help us keep everyone safe by not parking in the street or on the side of road to view the eclipse, and keep a special eye out during the eclipse for bicycles, pedestrians, and wildlife.

While Biltmore Forest and Buncombe County are not in the zone of totality for the eclipse Monday, the Town will experience 99.4 percent of the eclipse. The first contact of the moon will occur around 1:08 pm, with the near totality occurring at approximately 2:38 pm. The final contact between the moon and sun will be at approximately 4:02 pm. For complete information about the eclipse, please check out this NASA website which includes helpful information for safely viewing the eclipse, timelines, weather, and traffic information for those traveling to the totality zone.

If you do plan to view the eclipse, please remember to do so SAFELY! The same NASA website provides all the information you need to safely view the eclipse.
