PROTECT yourself against ticks!
- Permethrin-Treated Clothing: Treating clothes, shoes, and socks with permethrin is highly effective, making users far less likely to be bitten. Pre-treated clothing (e.g., from Insect Shield) lasts through many washes.
- Repellents: Use EPA-registered repellents containing 20%–30% DEET or Picaridin on skin. Products like Sawyer Products 20% Picaridin and Sawyer Permethrin are highly recommended.
- Protective Clothing: Wear light-colored, long-sleeved shirts and long pants tucked into socks.
- Daily Tick Checks: Shower within two hours of being outdoors and perform a full-body check.
